The Au pair Program provides you with:

• A 12 month Au pair visa
• A monthly stipend of about 280 euro
• Private room and full board provided by your host family
• Regularly scheduled social and cultural activities with other au pairs
• Support of a local representative for the duration of your year

• Language studies at the international language school

Au pair duties:

• Supervising and playing with the family’s children
• Preparing the children’s meals
• Straightening the children’s rooms
• Doing the children’s laundry
• Taking the children to and from school, daycare, appointments and lessons
• Light housework; assisting with dishes, vacuuming etc.
• Assist with homework and school projects

Requirements:

• Have A1 German certificate/ willing to get one (Level Up provides FREE study material)
• Childcare experience
• Can afford a flight ticket (Fully reimbursed by host family)
• Love caring for children
• Clear criminal and medical record
• Between the ages of 18- 26
• Secondary school graduate for equivalent
• Proficient in English or Afrikaans
• Responsible and reliable
• Flexible and adaptable
• No drivers license required

You will be part of a network of au pairs in your region, supervised by an experienced staff person, who will help and support you during your stay. You will meet other international au pairs who can share their experiences with you. You will become a valuable member of your European host family and learn more about their culture. Being an au pair is a lot of FUN, but should not be seen as a long vacation. Taking care of children is a big responsibility. You have to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs your host family and to build a good relationship with them. In return you will gain international experience, learn a foreign language and most importantly have the experience of a lifetime!

Selecting your host family: You get to choose your host family. Our families are carefully screened to ensure you will be in a comfortable environment. Experienced representatives interview each family in person and asses the family’s suitability for the program. Once you completed your application it will be forwarded to our partnering agencies, which in return will circulate it to suitable families for a match. You receive phone calls directly from host families, so you will have an opportunity to learn more about the family before accepting their offer to join them as their Au Pair. This allows you to choose a family you feel comfortable with. We will let you know when you can expect a call from and interested family.
